Raw materials take centre stage in MATIERE PREMIERE’s Berlin flagship
French perfume house MATIERE PREMIERE arrives in Berlin not merely as a boutique, but as a space where industrial clarity meets organic warmth. The name itself translates to 'raw material,' and this 38m² interior becomes a physical manifesto of the brand’s philosophy.

Designed by acclaimed Stockholm-based studio Halleroed, the store reads as a quiet and sophisticated dialogue, shaped with honesty and a deep respect for material character.

Grey limestone and brushed stainless steel define the architectural frame, gently softened by warm timber, accents of bronze and plastered walls.

A sculptural piece of hand-blown yellow glass that catches the light with a liquid-like quality. The composition feels considered rather than manufactured, revealing a sense of care in each surface and volume.

"For MATIERE PREMIERE, being in Germany makes a lot of sense. Berlin, and Mitte in particular, radiates a raw, creative energy that resonates with our vision. German design, especially the Bauhaus heritage, has always inspired me. Opening a boutique here felt like an obvious choice." said Aurélien Guichard, founder and perfumer.

The layout unfolds in two distinct areas. One side is dedicated to a gallery of the signature fragrance line, while the other invites a deeper immersion into the house’s defining ingredients.

At the fragrance bar, under the vision of perfumer Aurélien Guichard, visitors can explore a library of 6ml discovery bottles and assemble personalised sets that reflect their own scent preferences.

MATIERE PREMIERE stands as a reflection of modern minimalism that aligns closely with the brand’s ingredient-focused approach to perfumery. It celebrates the raw beauty of natural materials, both in scent and in structure, forming a space that feels timeless, quietly expressive, and deeply connected to the essence of craft.
