HAY︱Soft candle holder︱cream white

HAY collaborated with Copenhagen design team Wang & Söderström to create a series of organic candlestick designs.

The "soft candle holder" looks like acrylic paint squeezed from a paint tube. The ceramic surface is covered with a smooth glaze, and its different facets create interesting shadows and gestures under light, making it both playful and eye-catching.

The research and development process of the soft candle holder first uses 3D printing technology to repeatedly design prototypes, and then the molds are turned over in the ceramic factory to ensure that each porcelain work has the most precise shape in terms of details.

Wang & Söderström gave the collection an interesting contrast; the designers wanted to give the objects an organic form, as if they were part of a plant or animal, but at the same time retain the strangeness of their digital fabrication.
